This time next week we'll be on the other side of the Bombay Hills, and unpacking. 

So this is what we've done with our long weekend, hope yours has been as productive  & you didn't get too wet at the ANZAC Day dawn services

Poppies at the beach

The 25th April is a half day holiday in New Zealand.
Anzac Day is about honouring the memory of WWI veterans who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey.
ANZAC stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps.

Tzipi and I had all the best intentions to get up early to go to the dawn parade, unfortunately our hard day of house hunting yesterday caught up with us, and the best we did was to hear the air force plane do its fly by at the end.



We did pop down to the Cenotaph later on in the morning to see the poppies.

And then Andrew took us out to Yum Cha for lunch.



Which was a nice relaxing end to a frantic weekend!
Tomorrow we're out for lunch with friends, maybe a spot of shopping or to the beach if the day is as lovely as today :-)

Scarves from the Seventh State

In a pub somewhere in the north of England approximately 25 years ago…..
“I hear that you’re emigrating to New Zealand. You must be flying to Sydney then, it’s just over the Sydney Harbour Bridge isn’t it?”

Geographically challenged or a soothsayer?
Today on the news there is talk about New Zealand becoming the 7th state of Australia.

It’d be an interesting process that’s for sure….
For example: When Australia claim New Zealanders as one of their own (Phar Lap/Crowded House/Pacifier/Russell Crowe to name a couple) there is such an uproar.
Imagine having to sit back agree that they are Aussies?

Sushi

The fab new machine has shown it's worth.

It is easy to use, quite a bit of fun, and the sushi looks and tastes just like a bought one! We went for a classic smoked salmon and avocado filling. This lot is boxed up ready for lunch tomorrow, and with a squirt of wasabi it really does look like it comes from a shop :-)

We also made ministrone soup for tea, and yummy Anzac buscuits for morning teas. So, with all of this cooking and baking there hasn't been much sewing or crocheting. Andrew is planning on finishing one of his cushions tonight and has said he'll come by to show it off and wax lyrical tomorrow :-)
