Books and Movies in a Carnival

Howdy Doody - It's a blog carnival time
the subjects:

1. It's back to school time...How are you preparing to get the kids or yourself back to school?
2. What was your favorite BOOK, MOVIE or GETAWAY SPOT over the summer?...

1 = no kids = no school, me working (also = no school)
2 = no summer!

So anywaysup reading and watching watching movies are 2 of my fav things to do along with crocheting.... and luckily you can do this in winter too :-)

We've loved watching the MidSummer Murders on DVD on a Sunday afternoon when it's pouring down outside and the fire is blazing (we get these in box sets from the library for a couple of dollars for the week) fabulous murder mysteries from the British countryside. And of course anything with Audrey in it is brill!

I love most books - and this winter I've discovered audio books and I've been listening to anything by James Patterson on the way to and from work (40 mins each way means a book in a week and a bit) again, thanks local Pukekohe Library :-)

My fav author also had a new book out which I love and tried to eeeeeeeek out and then I got all excited and finished it dead quick :-)

Barbie, Audrey and a Snood

Every so often I am proud to pick a couple of items of a fellow etsy hooker team member and show off their creations.
After looking at this shop
http://www.etsy.com/shop/noradora it reminded me that I have talked about my admiration for Audrey, and yet I haven’t mentioned Barbie

I kinda fell into collecting Barbie dolls about 15 years ago, and I have some fabulous ones in their boxes, and some play ones too. I even have one called Gillian with brown hair and freckles (a favorite after the 2 Breakfast at Tiffany Audrey ones) . I used to have them all out on display, unfortunately there’s no room at the cottage.

What I would like to do is to urge you to bring out your inner child, pick up a doll, change its clothes , comb its hair (or cut and dye it if you fancy, although our hair dye doesn’t take too well to Barbie hair – I have experience) see if you can make it talk out loud (I think this is the real test!) :-)
And also by the same talented lady in her other shop is a snood. I thought I'd share this because I'd never heard of one before I saw them in this shop last year and I think they are quite posh.

Just a quick side note talking of Audrey – Audrey the Vespa is at the Doctors – I think Andrew is too rough when he drives her because she broke and a fella had to come and pick her up in a truck because she couldn’t get out of 2nd gear. I think I’ll have to get my full license so that I can do all the driving!

Spring Time means Audrey Time

Audrey Hepburn is, in my opinion, the most gorgeous and sophisticated woman ever. My favourite of her movies is Roman Holiday. I dreamt of driving around Rome on a Vespa for many many years before I actually bought one.

She's just like this one and she is of course called Audrey. As a totally fair weather rider Audrey gets put away under cover for the Winter, and now with the warmer weather on it's way it means that Audrey gets to go for her service this weekend and it's time for rides to the beach!

Hence my favourite purchase from etsy recently is this pendant from www.LaughingVixenLounge.etsy.com
