Shawley not?

Another shawl it is...
I got this yarn from my fav internet yarn store Skeinz.

It is kind of stringy/cottony and it has been made to knit/crochet with another yarn to make a cool effect.  I tried doing that and didn't like how it crocheted and to tell the truth I was quite determined to find a pattern/project that I could use it all by itself.

I found this one on Ravelry and did my best to follow it... not sure that it's quite the same as the pattern, (since I'm still a pattern reading beginner) it's fairly close though, and I put a different edging on it.
I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out.

Now, what to do with the other 3 balls......

Chocolate or Jane Austen?

Could have been Chocolate (Juliette Binoche is very cool and does wear some nice shawls) or it could have been Jane Austen where shawls abound.

Either way I've been keeping busy crocheting my first ever shawls.

I've also decided that I should be a fashionista and I think shawls are where it is at this coming season :-)

Here are the 3 so far.. (I've popped them in the felt shop)

Love the Postie

The Postie has brought me some fabulous delights this week.
My first Interweave mag arrived on Thursday.  OMG!  I am in love with it, there are so many beautiful and gorgeous things to make (some weird stuff as well - like most crochet mags :-) )

Always the trier, I know my various attempts at taming the sewing machine have yet to produce anything remotely useful/successful. I happened to find this book which arrived on Tuesday, and I've learned so much already that I'm ready to jump back into the lions den.

I went to a factory shop in Otara to make my purchases and totally fell in love with this shop.  It had so many bargains I didn't know where to start. I got so enthusiastic that I've bought enough fabric to do 2 skirts.

And now the only question for the weekend is which do I do first?

Orange Pavlova

The orange pavlova lamp is trialling a new function as a necklace holder....

I quite like how it looks, though it may need a lower voltage bulb so it can still be used.
The test will be seeing how functional it is :-)

Another one bites the dust

Man, I'm on a role!

Finished - the Amazing Technicoloured GrannyGhan.

I've just about ran out of WIP's (okay, slight exaggeration.... I've made a bit of a dent in them anyway :-))

And whilst relaxing in the park  yesterday I made these wrist warmers/long fingerless gloves from some gorgeous wool I found whilst sorting through the WIPs.  It's amazing what's hiding in there!
